The estimated number of people directly bereaved by suicide each year is around 34,000. This is our number at Suicide&Co, as it is the estimated size of our target community each year who could need access to our services.

The 34k Challenge recruits 34 people to take on 34km on or around World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10th) of every year, each challenger with a fundraising target of £1000, so that together we can raise £34,000 to help us to continue to achieve our mission of supporting individuals bereaved by suicide!

You can walk, run, cycle , skip or swim 34km. You can do it alone or as part of a team (maybe even relay style!), and It’s flexible so that you can tailor it to your capabilities.

The 2024 34k Challenge is now open for fundraisers! This year, World Suicide Prevention Day is on Tuesday 10th September, so in order to make the challenge flexible, the 34k Challenge will take place the weekend before, on the 7th/8th of September.

2024 will be our fourth year of the Challenge! In 2023, we smashed our target and had 50+ incredible challengers take on the challenge, all across the country.

We had a total of 1290 individual donors who generously supported our fundraisers in the challenge, and helped us to raise a total of over £50,000, hugely exceeding our ambitious target!
