Amelia Wrighton

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Amelia is a passionate and energetic musical-lover, who values empathy over everything and cannot control a fit of the giggles.

Amelia lost her mother at 19, whilst in her first year of university. The life-changing experience bred a deeper strength and resilience that has driven her forward ever since. Meeting Emma at work, they realised their shared experience of losing someone to suicide and decided that now is the right time to help others in the same situation. Amelia started her career in research and then moved into marketing, media and new business. Her focus within Suicide&Co is on strategy and operations.

Emma Morrisroe

Co-Founder, Trustee

Born and bred northerner living in London. Emma is a silly soul who always searches for the silver lining and the belly laughs.

At the age of 20, Emma was in her third year of university when she was bereaved by suicide. Losing her father to suicide a decade ago stirred feelings of anger, guilt and deep sadness. Living through these powerful and shaping emotions has had a huge impact on who Emma is today. As a result, she is incredibly vocal about changing the stigma around suicide and supporting the community of individuals who have lost someone to suicide. Emma’s background in media, combined with her inherent compassion, pinpoints her as Communications Director for the charity.

He has over 25 years experience in financial services and has a long standing interest in mental health and suicide. He was Honorary Treasurer at Samaritans and is a director of a children’s wellbeing company. Amy Ropner

Trustee

Happiest when on a beach in Cornwall, Amy keeps on swimming and embraces the exhilaration of life.

Amy unexpectedly lost her mum at 16. She felt that her world came crumbling down around her and navigating through the fog of grief often felt impossible. Learning to cope was largely due to the support of her family, friends and talking therapies.

Amy’s desire to support those who have lost a loved one through suicide stems from her own lived experience and in turn she is passionate about reducing the stigma around depression. She believes that if we continue to talk, to share and to face this illness head on then we can reduce the number of people affected by it. Amy’s drive to bring people on this journey with her makes her perfectly suited to fundraising.

Adele Owen QPM

Trustee

Adele loves to lose herself in a book or at the cinema.

She experienced the loss of her Mum at an early age which had a great impact on her life and influenced the work she went on to pursue. She currently works in the NHS as a Suicide Prevention and Bereavement Support Programme Manager but prior to this she was a police officer for 21 years which included responding to those experiencing suicidal thoughts, those who had taken their lives and those bereaved by suicide. In 2018, she was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in the New Year’s Honours List for her distinguished service.

Adele works closely with those suicide bereaved in Greater Manchester and is passionate about improving the support offered to those bereaved or affected by suicide. She was greatly honoured to be asked to be a Trustee for Suicide & Co.

Dawn Anderson

Trustee

An 80s music fan, animal flow fitness enthusiast, and book worm, Dawn enjoys spending her downtime cuddled up with her two Shepsky dogs.

Dawn’s road to mental health advocacy started in 2011 following her own diagnosis and treatment for PTSD and her subsequent struggles with suicidal thoughts.  She worked as a frontline paramedic, with East of England Ambulance Service between 2008 and 2019 and, in addition to supporting many members of the public through their own suicide-related challenges, lost several colleagues to suicide.

Now retrained, Dawn has stepped away from emergency medicine to focus on a career as a counsellor and psychologist, and works for a Hospice in the Mid-Essex area. Jess Wilkins

Suicide bereavement advisor

Jess is a cider-drinking enthusiast, kitchen-disco regular, and tree hugger from Bristol.

Her own experiences with mental health challenges during her teenage years sparked a deep interest in understanding the mind and ultimately inspired her to study psychology. Throughout university, Jess volunteered with young people with autism and spent a year in research, focusing on children with rare genetic disorders.

After graduating, she worked in mental health support and volunteered with Age UK art groups and a charity supporting care leavers.

Today, Jess has moved to London to bring together her lifelong love of art and her passion for psychology by completing a master’s in art psychotherapy. This journey has led her to further clinical experience, particularly in psychosis, suicide prevention, and childhood trauma.

Jess is dedicated to ensuring that no one has to face their mental health struggles alone.

Natalie Haynes

Natalie is the proud parent of a very rusty camper van named Jolene. You will find her in her free time on a road trip in the countryside or at a local car garage getting yet another thing on her home-on-wheels repaired.

She is passionate about the importance of creating a space where people feel safe to talk and truly heard. Alongside her role as a Suicide Bereavement Adviser at Suicide&Co, she is training to become an integrative therapist to further support those navigating grief and mental health challenges.

Rae Foulkes

Rae first became interested in working in mental health support when working for SANE, a mental health helpline, as a data analyst. Seeing all the good work her colleagues did inspired her to train to become a helpline volunteer, and to take on training to become a person-centred therapist, which she is still undergoing. Having lost someone to suicide themselves, Rae understands the unique shape this kind of grief can take, and in their role as a Suicide Bereavement Advisor, they aim to provide a space for people to feel heard and held.
