#10before10 Challenge

Join us for the #10before10 challenge. Let's keep it simple, walk 10,000 steps before 10am on the 10th of each month!

By taking part in this challenge you’ll get your dose of self-care, whilst raising money for Suicide&Co to support those bereaved by suicide by donating £10 to take part, either as a one off or every month!

We believe that together we can stride for better suicide bereavement support, stride to have braver conversations and stride with pride with our community, knowing that we are not alone.

Our goal is to have 1,000 people taking part in the challenge each month, raising £10,000 — which is equivalent to 277 counselling sessions for individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide!

Guidelines

  • This challenge is to walk 10,000 steps before 10am on the 10th of the month, to get a dose of self-care and raise money for Suicide&Co supporting those bereaved by suicide through a £10 personal donation.

  • This challenge will be taking place on the 10th of every month so we are building a community of challengers who want to build self-care into their routine, whilst supporting a charity! Whether you’re joining us every month, a couple of months, or just once we are so grateful for your support!

  • You can sign up HERE and register either a one off donation or a monthly direct debit if you’re planning on joining us every month - whatever the weather we’re going to stride together!

  • We want to spread the message far and wide so we’ve also introduced referral codes. If you want to encourage others to sign up you can request a referral code by emailing info@suicideandco.org. If you have 10 people sign up using your code we will send you a free Print of your choice as a reward!

  • Use the hashtag #10before10 so we can keep up with your progress and success.

  • Follow us on Instagram @suicideandco to keep updated on the #10before10 challenge!

FAQs

  • — Walking is great for your health - both mental & physical! Every step you take releases endorphins which lifts your mood. We see walking as a key part of a healthy self-care routine, swapping screen time for outdoor striding will help you de-stress.

    — Having company is important to us; having a support network to keep you company means you never have to walk alone. Walking and talking also takes the pressure off the conversation- the countryside or city scenes around us can act as a distraction whilst opening up and having difficult conversations.

    — Doing 10,000 steps before 10am sets the day off right and gives you a sense of achievement to continue your day with.

    — Adding this as part of your monthly routine is a great way to accomplish new milestones and feel that positive change, while giving back!

  • — Absolutely, we won’t stand in your way, if you’re taking on the distance and donating to support those bereaved then the more the merrier!

  • — It’s a great way to start your day! These targets are more of a guideline and something to aim for, rather than hard and fast rules. The main thing is that you take yourself on a nice walk in the morning and feel the positive energy that it can bring- while helping to raise money to support those bereaved by suicide!

  • That’s fine! If you don’t have a way of counting steps then 10,000 steps is approximately 8 km or 5 miles. This is usually about 1 ½ hours of walking, so set off with this distance and time in mind.

  • — Getting companies involved as a whole and encouraging them to push the initiative would be awesome! Please send them the details here on the website or send an email to cate@suicideandco.org and she will be able to send the link and details via PDF to your organisation.

    — If a company really wants to align with this challenge then they could pledge to donate £10 per employee taking part.

    — Allowing team members to start at 10am could also allow them even more time to do the 10,000 steps before 10am!
