Stride for Suicide&Co

Whatever the weather, stride together

Stride For Suicide&Co

We believe that together we can stride for better suicide bereavement support, stride to have braver conversations and stride with pride, knowing that we are not alone.

Put on your trainers, walking boots, wellies or even flip flops! Join us in our fundraising mission by getting involved through a variety of events and walking adventures in the coming year.

Why?

Walking is good for your health - both mental & physical health! Every step you take releases endorphins which lifts your mood. We see walking as a key part of a healthy self-care routine, swapping screentime for outdoor striding will help you de-stress.

Having company is important to us, so much so we’ve included it in our name! Having a support network to keep you company means you never have to walk alone. Walking together with friends helps us to keep on track on our adventures and journeys. Walking and talking also takes the pressure off the conversation, the countryside or city scenes around us can act as a distraction whilst opening up and having difficult conversations.

How can I get involved?

If you're as eager as us to start striding and fundraising then here are some ideas:

- The 10 before 10 challenge! Walk 10,000 steps before 10am on the 10th of each month! Donate £10 to take part, either as a one off or monthly! Use the hashtag #10before10 so we can keep up with your progress and success!

- Set up a monthly walking group in your local area by arranging different routes, this is a great way to explore your local area and meet new people. Ask your fellow walkers to donate £5 as a thank you!

Spread the Love

As you are doing your events please do #StrideforSuicide&Co and share the love to others and encourage them to help with the movement.

Inspiration for shorter events

  • Walk to a viewpoint that makes you happy

  • Walk to a place that makes you feel calm

  • Explore the footpaths around you

  • Set yourself and your friends a target to walk 2 million steps in a month

  • Set yourself and your friends a target to walk 500 miles in a month

“A group of friends and I walked 5 million steps over a month to raise money for Suicide&Co. It is a great new charity and one that we are keen to support in any way we can.”
